Indoor Skydiving

Rachel volunteered to watch the kids so that Ben and I could go on one 'final date' before his master's program started.  We decided to do something memorable and big and so we went Indoor Skydiving at IFly in Denver! Ben wasn't super excited about it but he was a good sport and he really liked it.  I have always wanted to go skydiving but I know that it would completely horrify me and it is a huge risk, that as a mother, I don't think I would be willing to take.  So Indoor Skydiving was a win win for me.

When you get there you get trained and then suited up (jump suit, ear plugs, goggles and a helmet) before going to the 'tube'.  In the tube is a giant fan that blows around 95mph and blows you up.  There is a trainer in the tube with you at all times to guide you and help you not hit the walls.  You are supposed to lay on your stomach with your arms in front of you, legs slightly bent, chin up and back bent. ..oh and be relaxed (ha).  The trainer gives you hand signals to help you get in the right position.  We each did two 1 minute 'flights' and after a minute we were ready to get out and take a rest, your body starts feeling a little tired.  (They then rotate people until your turn again)

It is an amazing feeling to be flying and so exhilarating.  The last 30 seconds of the second time flying the trainer will grab onto you and fly himself (up until then he has just been standing) and he will take you up into the tube.  Our trainer would then shoot us down- it was awesome.  He would go up and down so fast that you actually felt like you were falling (like you might feel falling from an airplane) and he would spin us (Ben got a little sick at that part)as you drop.  It was so cool and such an amazing experience.  I am so glad that we did this; it was so fun and so worth it!  And it was a check off my bucket list.
