Ben is on a Crocs softball league; each department has their
own team and every Thursday evening everyone stays late and play's softball
behind work. Crocs has a couple softball
fields behind one of the buildings; they are equip with perimeter fences, team
dug outs and bleachers.
His team, E-Commerce, does not always win but they are
spirited and have fun. Ben, as I have
complained before, is naturally athletic and is good at everything sport
related. He is a really good softball
player; played as pitcher all year last year because he was the only one who
could throw straight. This year he has
been trying to get out in the field more and yesterday he was way back in right
field.
About 20 minutes into the game the other team hit a far one
to right field and Ben was willing and ready to get it. He started running, full speed, to catch the
ball; the entire time he was running he was looking up to get the balls perfect
position. And then- WACK- Ben ran right
into the perimeter fence. Yes, it was a
home run. Yes, Ben was injured. But YES,
the visual created in your mind is hilarious.
I actually came to this game but I arrived right after the
fight with the fence. He finished the
game, smiled and laughed with his co-workers and had a great evening. When he got home he moaned and slumped onto
the couch with multiple ice packs littering his body. This morning he said he was really sore.
Ben's knee has a big scrape and bruise on it and his elbow
is pretty bruised. His side
(ribs/stomach) are not bruised but are pretty sore this morning. And all the muscles on his right side are tight and sore. I am proud of him for playing the game. I am so sad that he is so hurt. And I
am very sorry that I find this incident so funny!!
YAY for BEN!!
