Quilt from Grandma Stones

My Grandma Stones and Aunt Melanie are amazing quilters. They do intricate patterns and hand stitch it all. Grandma has decided to do a quilt for all of her grandchildren when they get married and their are a lot of us. We just got ours and boy was it worth the wait.

My Mom put together all the pieces and made all the squares and then Grandma and Melanie quilted it together. It is beautiful and so special. I will cherish this for the rest of my life and have it to show my kids while I tell them stories of the amazing women who made it.

Thank you to Mom, Melanie and especially Grandma Stones for this treasure! I love you!

And again...Why I love Ben!

Ben is such a romantic at heart. He will randomly get home from work with a bouquet of flowers, 'just because.' This morning they looked so beautiful in the sunshine so I decided to take a picture.
He is so amazing and so good to me.

Wood Candle Project

I saw a picture on pinterest of a vase painted like wood.

I thought this was an interesting idea and decided to make my own but I decided to make a candle instead. I started with a plain white candle and started carving in the wood designs with a tooth pick (actually a lot of tooth picks because they kept breaking). I can not brag at being the best artist but I tried and the carvings didn't turn out too bad.
It is hard to see the carvings but just believe me..they're there!
I then covered the entire thing in paint, making sure to get it in the cracks and crannies. When it was all covered I wiped off the paint to reveal the lines!

I really wanted some winter-esk looking thing on our 'mantel' but I am not as good at that as some people (Andrea). But I did my best and I think it looks okay.
