Halloween Crafts and October Fun

Elizabeth is so excited that she asks me every day if it is 'Halloween time' yet; I told her that before Halloween the leaves had to change, we had to go get pumpkins and it had to get cold outside.  She is very aware of these changes and shouts of  "Mom, those leaves are changing. Is it Halloween time?" are constantly coming.  So we have been doing some crafts to get ready our house decorated and ready for Halloween.

On October 2, I was having a hard day being patient. Mom suggested that I take Elizabeth to the dollar store and pick out a craft to give us something to do.  Elizabeth picked to paint a pumpkin and she painted it all by herself.  She is so artistic and it looks great.  It was fun to see her be so creative and it definitely helped to change my mood.

We decided to make an Elizabeth sized witch (Oct 7).  We traced her and then she got to color and glue on shapes. We then cut it out and she chose to hang it on the door.  It is a very festive decoration.

At our Stones Get Together (Oct 10) Deanna helped the kids make cotton ball ghosts. Elizabeth got to glue again, so she was very excited,

One night for Family Home Evening (Oct 12) we made a pumpkin patch. We all glued faces onto pumpkins; some were spooky, some funny and others were just silly.  We decided to put them in our front window- where we put our carved pumpkins growing up. It is fun to see them whenever we come home.  Can you guess which one belongs to who?

On Tuesday Oct 20, we went to Mom's house and met Erica and the kids there to hang out for an afternoon.  Mom and I went to get fabric to make Elizabeth's halloween costume; a purple princess.  And Erica and Grandpa took the kids to a pumpkin patch.  Even though it was freezing, they had a lot of fun seeing the animals, going through the corn maze and looking at all the pumpkins.

And of course everyone wanted to play with cute Baby James.  Elizabeth was a good sister and showed them all how to be gentle and get him to smile.

After dinner we all decorated sugar cookies.  Elizabeth ate frosting more than decorated but we ended up making some pretty cute and spoooky halloween cookies.

Mom and Dad dropped off some kids clothes and accidentally dropped off a costume box; so naturally, Elizabeth and I had a dress up party. It was fun to see her in all of my old costumes growing up.
