Vampire Weekend 2015: Family Style

Back in 2009 we decided to have a HUGE Halloween Party with a group of our friends and call it Vampire Weekend.  Every year we rent a cabin in the mountains for a weekend, each couple pitches in and makes a meal, we relax, play crazy games all night long, have dance parties and live like we wild a crazy in our young college years.  As the years have gone on we have all started having kids and the  'Adult Only' party has been harder and harder to manage.
If you look closely you can see all the kids in the window above the garage looking out to see the Moose.
After a small rain/slush storm we had a beautiful mountain rainbow.
This year we did our first ever Vampire Weekend with kids! We went to a cabin in Breckenridge.  It was fun to see the kids connect (none of the couples that came live in the same ward/state so we don't see them often) and to see the craziness that ensues with 5 kids/toddlers, 2 babies and a dog.  We still got to sit around and talk and be with old friends but our 'game time' was limited with the kids and with our sheer exhaustion (not being able to sleep in really puts a damper on the fun of all night games).  It was different but still fun.  I missed the crazy dance parties, immature craziness and joy of feeling 'young' again.

I love Moose! I once read something about them being amazing swimmers (dive 8 feet to eat algae off the bottom of lakes) and super aggressive (which is weird because they are so cute looking).  Since then I have always wanted to see one in nature but I never had...until this weekend. We saw two off the side of the road and then two out of the window of the cabin.

Saturday afternoon we went to a train park with the kids.  They loved pretending they were buying tickets and going on a train to places like Arizona, Disney Land and the jungle.

The kids went swimming in the hot tub, painted pumpkins and did yoga at night.  They had a lot of fun playing together.

It was so much fun seeing all of our old friends and being their their families.
