New Camera and January Fun: Part 1

Ben got me a new fancy camera for Christmas.  There is so much to learn about it and I have a class I have to take online but in the meantime I have had a fun time experimenting and taking lots of pictures; poor Elizabeth is already sick of the attention!

Dec 31, 2014- A family in our ward gave us some costumes that their kids grew out of.  Elizabeth loved having new dress ups.

1/6/2015- Our pretty fairy princess!
Yes- it did turn from smiles to tears in 1 second.

1/7/2015-  We like to watch TV in style at our house; while wearing goggles in weird positions!

1/8/2015- I guess we figure that if we make the picture look weird that people wont know how weird we actually look.  Good reasoning? And Ben refused to open his eyes for a picture- ha!

1/8/2015- Elizabeth got finger paints for the bathtub and she started a little hesitant but in the end she loved it!

Yuck- don't eat it!

12/28/14- Elizabeth's beautiful new cardigan made from Grandma Baker
 1/9/2015- Playing in Mom's coat!!

New Years Goals

One of my New Years goals for his year was to go on more dates and do more activities with Elizabeth and as a family.

On January 3 we went Bowling with the Larsen family.  I am notoriously bad bowler; I usually cannot keep the ball out of the gutter's long enough to hit the pins but this trip our lane was broken and one of the bumpers stayed down.  With this little help I did pretty good- I am pretty proud of my growing bowling skills.
They had a ramp for the little kids and it was cute watching them push the balls down and watching them score; they did pretty good.  It embarrassed Elizabeth a little bit when we would cheer for her! It was a fun afternoon and something we don't do often.

The next weekend, Jan 10, we went Ice Skating at the outdoor rink in Old Louisville. They didn't have skates Elizabeth's size, so we pulled her behind us on a sled.  We got pretty good and going fast around the corners and whipping her around the corners pretty fast.  After a while she got bored of sitting in the sled and walked around the ice pushing a shovel; she loved it.
(More sledding Pictures to come!)

New Year's Eve and Ben's Birthday

On New Years Eve we went to a fun 'kids' party with our friends; we did a countdown and party at 7:00! Elizabeth did not really understand why people were so excited but it was still fun.  Then we had a get together with some of our friends.  It was a fun evening.

The next day was BEN'S BIRTHDAY!! We had so much fun with a donuts and chocolate milk breakfast, sledding and of course, BEN!!   We got a lot of snow since Christmas and it was fun to re-introduce Elizabeth to the fun of the snow.  We went sledding on the hill across the street from us (it's really small) and after some tough runs, getting the snow packed down, we got going pretty fast.  Ben even tried his hand at snowboarding, on the sled, down the hill- which worked until the stop at the end.

We had steak for Ben's birthday dinner, of course, and had fun spending the evening with his parents. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful guy in our lives! Happy 32nd Birthday Ben!

December Snow!

Starting on Christmas and for a couple days afterwards it snowed and snowed and snowed!! It was also freezing and was definitely one of those 'cozy up by the fire sipping hot chocolate' weeks.  Ben was off work and it was so nice having him home; Elizabeth sure does love her Dad.  We went sledding and went out to play in the snow a couple times (always for brief moments because it was SO COLD).
December 26, 2014
The first day we went sledding, the snow wasn't packing down well, so it didn't really work.  But the next time it worked great!

I got a new Camera for Christmas and I used Ben and Elizabeth as my guinea pigs that week, as I started figuring out how to use it.  There is still so much I do not know about my camera (I am pretty much just figured out the point and shoot part of it) but Ben got me an online tutorial that I am hoping will really help.

Saturday December 27- Ben and Elizabeth playing in the backyard!

And Ben always insists that there be one of me- to prove that I was there!

New Family Addition

On Christmas we announced to our families that we are going to have a new addition to our family: Baby Newson #2 is due July 28!!  We told our families by having our Mom's open a present with a baby onesy that said 'Born in 2015'.  They were all really excited!

Prego-Mom Update: We are really excited but I have had a pretty hard month (probably why I didn't get everything done with holiday season).  I have stopped exercising (I pretty much sit, unmoving, on the couch) and stopped eating (I loath saltine's) but I am at least surviving (ugg). I had a couple weeks of intense migraines but after some blood work and medication changes I was able to get that under control in time for the morning/afternoon/night sickness to begin.  I am on a progesterone supplement that adds to my sickness but I was able to be put on a light nausea medicine that has helped a lot in the morning.

It is harder to be pregnant with a toddler, and I can not imagine having more than one while being this sick. Elizabeth has been so good and patient with me.  She is watching a lot more TV or reading books while I am sick on the couch.  But we have amazing neighbors who come over and take her on walks and to the library; I am so grateful for the love and service given by others.

Ben took two weeks off for the holidays and it was such a help.  I am not really cooking (or handling any food smells) so Ben took over all cooking, toddler feeding and kitchen cleaning- he really is amazing!!

So... I am really sick but in a couple more weeks, when I start feeling better, I am sure the excitement will come back! It will be an adjustment but such a blessing to welcome a new little one into our lives! We are so excited for the blessing of another child and to see our little family grow!
